Fort Anne encampment, 2018

I had such a good time with my family that I forgot to add pictures! My new sailor kit came in handy as an American privateer
My wife got pictures so I shall have to wait for her to sort them out
Drummer Ian in his small clothes and mistress Leena in her young ladies clothing.
I havent yet been able to upload further pictures

a shot of Private DeLorey back in 1986 with my little sister.

Loyalist Arms Brown Bess Musketoon, 1728 model

My wife allowed me to buy a musket both for reenacting, and hunting, but also as a bit of home defense (use of bayonet on bears if they ever try to come in)
The "musketoon" is a 42-46" Brown Bess cut down to 32" with a bayonet lug and no nose cap.
The rammer is wooden. It is designed to be a musket to be used either by rangers, Light infantry, sailors, common people/militia.
I wanted to get something shorter which my wife and son could use.
This is the first musket I have owned. The previous one I used was owned by my father.

Gearing up for event at Fort Anne.

I must say I am very blessed. My wife was asking what I had in the freezer recently and I said my father had given us some deer meat. She asked where we can buy and I said you can't buy but must hint. So she said why don't you buy a musket for hunting. I asked if I could get two and she said yes. So I have put down funds for a misketoon, a cut down long land brownbess and I will be getting a long land pattern once I pay off the first.
I also got a 1742 pattern infantry sword for my son or I to use. So I can now portray a sailor, a militiamen, ranger and highlander.
Pictures to follow

The move to Dutch Settlement

My move back to Nova Scotia has been a bit fluid over the past two years. I'm in the process of buying a new home. Once this gets settled, my hobby may pick up.
As well another August has arrived and my vacation was cancelled yet again. However I may be getting some time off in the fall.
Going to work from my new house, still having to move furniture in

Ideas for the new year

My 18th century gamming has dropped off for a bit. This hasn't been by choice, but rather, not much free time.
Any gamming I have gotten into has been on my other eras.
However, I will take a look at my minatures, and some of my historical books to come up with some new campaigns.
My Saratoga campaign is still one I want to finish up. Though this will be after Christmas.

Finally after 6 weeks I might be back on rotation

I've been extremely busy with work. I was covering the other officers position.
As well, life throws its usual amount of difficulties, which make hobbys the last of life's priorities.
I do hope to get back on track with my Saratoga Campaign.

40,000 views who knew?

I'm pleasantly surprised that my blog has this many views.
I set out to have my blog as a way to share my hobby, and I've expanded to having 6 at last count.
Thank you to those who have taken a look.
Keep coming back

Summer time Fung Shuie or how my stuff was moved while I was sleeping

While I was sleeping, my family reorganized the living room, however, they haphazardly put things from my table where they could find space. Now it does look good, I can't find my kit and I can't get upset as it will cause a problem, but as my wife said, part of the fun would be to find it again. However I had just begun building a Comet tank and now can't find the parts. Sigh

My 43rd birthday on Mt. Thom, Pictou county

My good friend Francis Nickerson invited me to his property. Over the years, he has built up a small fort, cabins and a skill at arms range.
I went up with my family to look around and take a walk. It was nice to be out in nature.

Rod Redden and Emi Redden Thirteenth Wedding Anniversary

Ah it was such a lovely day when we got married. And lucky that it was so nice and warm. The sun was shinning. Good memories. And now we are back home to enjoy.

Spring time, thinking on diversifying

There was an incident at work last night which made my wife upset, and she'd like me to look for other work. I'll try my luck with the airline industry to see what I can get.
Any job which has vacation time would be nice.

Storm day consolation

well, I guess God does give me conpensations. There is a major storm to hit Nova Scotia today, so schools are closed. Thus, I get a day with my children!
So it's gamming and movies with homemade cheeseburgers!

Frustrated is my life

Every single weekend off for the past three months has had a day scarified!
Now I don't mind the over time, its the messed up paychecks and lack of sleep
And I'm getting tired of seeing my sons eyes disappointed when I have to cancel another event I said we could do

Catching up on my sleep

Yesterday, i spent a grand total of seven hour awake, the rest was asleep! As a security officer supervisor, which meant for two weeks I was run ragged.
Consequently, I turned my phone off.
Then listened to the irate message left by my partner when he couldn't find kit, which I didn't have either.

Merry Christmas from Nova Scotia, CANADA

After many years, I am now celebrating Christmas back home.
We decided on a small Christmas focusing on the important things, family

a bit of good food

blending Japanese and Canadian traditions as well as our own

We got our children some small gifts, we also got a piano to help us with the gift of music.
We hope you could enjoy yours with the ones you hold dear, I was so happy to have been able to have visited my father and my step mum. More pictures to follow.
